Yesterday (Weds. Feb. 16th), state Senator Adam Kline introduced a resolution calling on Congress to adopt a Constitutional Amendment to ensure that that corporations do not have the same rights as people. The state Senate Judiciary Committee will take it up tomorrow — and tomorrow is also the last day they can act on it during the current legislative session.
Can you please call these state Senators who serve on the Judiciary Committee, right now?:
Sen. Nick Harper (D), Vice Chair: (360) 786-7674
Sen. Cheryl Pflug (R): (360) 786-7608
Sen. Jeff Baxter (R): (360) 786-7606
Sen. Mike Carrell (R): (360) 786-7654
Sen. James Hargrove (D): (360) 786-7646
Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles (D): (360) 786-7670 (co-signer)
Sen. Debbie Regala (D): (360) 786-7652
Sen. Pam Roach (R): (360) 786-7660
Urge them to pass Senator Adam Kline’s resolution SJM 8007, to ensure that corporations do not have the same rights as people.
Thanks to grassroots efforts led by people mobilizing across the country, Massachusetts, New Mexico and Vermont are already advancing bills in their state legislatures. Please help Washington state join this critical movement.
Thanks for contacting these Senators right away.
Sincerely
-John

Free Speech For People
February 17th, 2011
I already called the senators. Let’s hope this resolution passes!
Bravo to Adam Kline for introducing this resolution! Calling corporations “persons” is a nefarious, dangerous grab of power, harmful to individuals.
The legislation that created this mess is the worst in the last 200 yrs !
Corporation should not be able to control the ballot box !
Corporations are not people.
You can’t put them in jail.
They don’t have to breathe the air or drink the water.
They need to go to a doctor or dentist.
Then don’t go to bathroom.
They don’t fall in love and raise a family.
They have no dreams.
They are not persons.
I meant:
The don’t need to go to a doctor or a dentist.
The question is whether there is a simple way to replace the “corporation” or do we need a series of laws?
One I like is an absolute ban on corporations making political contributions, including contributions in kind …spelled F_O_X.
