Has anyone else seen the recent edition of “Columns” that includes the description of the recent study of the impact of the UW on the economy of the State of Washington?
Some of the highlights (please see the website http://www.washington.edu/alumni/columns/june10/president.html)
include:
1) For every $1 of state funding received, the UW generates $22 in economic activity.
2) For every $1 of funding the state provides to the UW, the state receives $2 in tax revenue.
Does anyone know where to access the full report?
If these numbers are anywhere close to correct, then the legislature has been considering the wrong question. The issue is not about how much to cut UW funding to balance the state budget, but how much more must be invested in the UW to balance the state budget!
If anyone can fill in details on this, please do. — Luke Sitt

You may want to look at the new post on MIT salaries vs UW. Our admins way outrank theirs.
Obviously ths is because Mark Emmert brings us greater prestige than Nancy Hopkins brings to the Massachusetts technology college. Hell .. can you imagine her as a head of the NCAA! MIT barely has a football tram!
