“I don’t see a president here.”

A bit sad to watch Jeb Bush drop out of this presidential race, but it was a campaign that never had traction. The GOP of 2016 is not the party that chose Bush 1 and 2, nor is this an age where the idea of political dynasties generates much excitement. Barbara Bush said it prophetically last summer – “We’ve had enough Bushes.” Alone in the family, she had it right.

So it’s a three-person run now – Trump, Rubio, Cruz. And to paraphrase that line from the film Inside LLewyn Davis, “I don’t see a president here.”

With Cruz generally loathed by colleagues who know him well – a “grifter,” says one of my right wing FB friends – and Trump as content-free as ever, Rubio – he of the canned talking points – will be the establishment favorite.
So the fun from here – seeing this as the spectator sport it’s obviously become for American media – will be watching the attack strategy against Trump. It will be negative, harsh, and focused on boosting Rubio. Trump better come up with something more presidential than hot air and insults.
Cruz had to run the Southern table to really stay in the game. Not happening. My bet (my wish, too) is that he’s in a downward spiral.

If I’m Hillary, I like the drift…..
