Huckabee defends child molester

GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee “is standing by the Duggar family” of TV reality show fame — and called the Duggars an “example of something that’s wholesome and wonderful” — after Josh Duggar “issued an apology Thursday [for] allegedly molest[ing] girls as a teenager,” CBS News reported today.  (Click here for story.)

The Duggars, who earn millions by glamorizing fecundity in an overpopulated world, are active in promoting conservative political causes and Republican candidates.

Huckabee wrote in a Facebook post, “Josh’s actions … are inexcusable, but that doesn’t mean unforgivable. … No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story.” Josh Duggar said in a Facebook post, “I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation … my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling.”

(Counseling? If you or I did this, we’d be in jail, not in counseling.)

It’s nice that Huckabee is willing to forgive his friends for molesting underage girls; now if only we could get him to forgive strangers for being poor in an economy destroyed by conservative policies.
