Wisconsin Voter Fraud Exposed

Although studies have shown actual voting fraud is very rare, a Wisconsin man is being prosecuted for voting twice in the 2012 presidential election in different states (Wisconsin and Indiana) and 5 times in Gov. Scott Walker’s recall election the same year.

Prosecutors have charged Robert Monroe, 50, a health insurance executive and ardent Walker supporter, with violating election laws.  Monroe is accused of “registering in more than one place, providing false information to an election official, voting more than once and voting as a disqualified person, for a total 13 felony charges,” according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The paper’s story indicates Monroe was nailed in part with DNA testing of ballot envelopes.  It says investigators tested envelopes “supposedly sent by other people, to find only Monroe’s DNA, and no DNA of the voters allegedly casting the votes.”

Monroe also allegedly voted multiple times in state senate recalls and state supreme court elections.  The indictment, according to TPM, described Monroe’s motives as follows:  “[He] became especially focused upon political issues and causes in 2011 and 2012, and was particularly invested in the recall elections that followed the state’s fight over public employees’ collective bargaining rights.”

TPM notes that Wisconsin’s controversial GOP-supported voter ID law, which the U.S. Supreme Court blocked last week, wouldn’t have prevented Monroe’s alleged illegal voting.  Meanwhile, a GOP election official in Milwaukee has reacted to the Supreme Court action by calling on Republican vigilantes to go to polling places to prevent “voting fraud.”

As for Monroe, he apparently hopes to beat the rap and avoid jail time by claiming temporary amnesia.

My question is, does Wisconsin let convicted felons vote, if they promise not to vote more than once?
