ports that Ed Murray picked up impressive endorsements from state Rep. Eric Pettigrew (D-37, SE Seattle) and former Southeast Seattle state rep Dawn Mason.
While both Pettigre and Mason are African American leaders, I was especially impressed by the endorsement by Pettigrew, a moderate Democrat mostly known i for pushing teacher evaluations and charters. These are issues where liberals fear to tread, presumably out of fear of the political clout of the teachers’ unions. That clout places opponents of charter schools at odds withe African American parents who want control over their own children’s education and have read good reports of charter school;s in other parts of the US.
