Washington’s First CD: An issue of power

Darcy Burner at the Netroots Nation , talking about power politics.

Darcy gave a Powerpoint® Power Talk,

The former Microsoft staffer came acress with  a geek MBA talk, a marketing presentation with all the sizzle boring Powerpoint® is famous for.  The class listening to this thumb twiddle learned that Lotus® had a better product but that Microsoft® had won by better marketing!

Great way to get the Redmond vote?:

I support most of the same things Darcy Burner does, hhat disturbs me most about the talk was Darcy’s lack of focus on any issue relevant to her own campaign.

Darcy’s emphasis was all about focus, focus on woman’s  issues like the ERA and abortion rights. I somehow do not think POWER to the WOMEN is great slogan when you are running against a Suzan and a Laura!

There was more stuff  aimed at feeding meet to hungry progressive panthers than appealing to CD 1 voters and winning an election.  Several PowerPoint slides were spent on a call to boycott products made by Georgia Pacific, apparently because that company is owned by the Koch brothers.  Dump those Bounty® towels!

Darcy’s brilliant idea was an app so progressive customers would know which products to not buy at Costco®.

The candidate for Congress from rural Everett said nothing on  the economy, jobs, defense, education, the military or even the environment.  She did not mange to insert a picture of Mr. Baker, the refinery in Anacortes, or a 787!

Darcy never mentioned her Republican opponent,  . John Koster,  or that, as she was speaking at Netroots Nation, Mitt Romney was raising several millions in contributions from gazillionaires in Darcy’s own District!

S lot of the talk seemed to me to be bait for John Koster.  The image of a lefty lady talking how to use Microsoft marketing tricks to push a power agenda will nto sell well in November.
