Mitch McConnell’s final hypocrisy

Hardly anyone is more responsible for Trump returning to power — and potentially abusing power — than Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

McConnell excoriated Trump’s role in instigating the Jan. 6 insurrection. As the Republican Senate leader, he could have rallied GOP senators behind the House impeachment that could have disqualified Trump for future office. Instead, he did the opposite. Not only that, he even voted for Trump again.

Now McConnell says his 2024 election win “puts Americans in ‘a very, very dangerous world,’ stressing that he plans to spend his final two years in the Senate pushing back against the growing Trump-fueled isolationism within the GOP” (read story here).

Although there are very few opinions I share with McConnell, I agree that GOP isolationism and Trump’s foreign policy views are dangerous and are likely to put America in a bad position. And if that comes to fruition, McConnell will be more at fault than anyone except Trump himself.
