DeSantis unveils his next stunt

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who wants to be president, “now wants to prosecute those who pushed the vaccines,” Huffington Post says.

“In Florida, it is against the law to mislead, to misrepresent, particularly when you’re talking about the efficacy of a drug,” DeSantis told a gathering of anti-vaxxers on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Therefore, “Today, I’m announcing a petition with the Supreme Court of Florida to impanel a statewide grand jury to investigate any and all wrongdoing in Florida with respect to COVID-19 vaccines,” he said.

It’s just another DeSantis stunt, which political observers called a ploy to poach voters away from Trump, whom DeSantis appears likely to challenge for the 2024 GOP nomination, especially as Trump’s already-announced candidacy increasingly looks stillborn. DeSantis loves stunts. He has:

  • Sent a SWAT team to the home of a whistleblower who exposed faked state Covid-19 case data;
  • Bused legal Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Massachusetts with Florida taxpayers’ money;
  • Arrested 20 people, mostly blacks, for election fraud that judges are summarily dismissing.

There are obvious free-speech problems with his latest idea. But if anybody is hauled before a grand jury for advocating Covid-19 vaccines, he should be the first to go, because he was a vaccine advocate himself until recently (read story here).

The problem with his political stunts is innocent people get hurt. He doesn’t care. This vicious little man (5’10”, 215 lbs.) with big ambitions enjoys picking on defenseless little people. No one with a conscience could vote for him.

Update (12/14/22): Dr. Fauci, responding, said he “doesn’t have a clue” what DeSantis hopes to accomplish with a state grand jury investigation of vaccine “crimes” (see story here). That must be rhetorical, because it’s obvious DeSantis is making a play for votes of anti-vaxxers.
