It’s now generally accepted among legal experts, journalists, and political junkies that Trump’s lawyers are nimrods.
It’s no real mystery why he can’t get decent lawyers to work for him. He doesn’t pay them, and throws them under the bus.
That’s not to say Trump lawyers don’t compete to see which of them is the clumsiest. Take for example Jesse Binnall (profile here), who argued to a panel of judges that Trump would be immune from being sued “even if he’d called on his followers to ‘burn Congress down’ while in office” (see story here).
When you’re trying to persuade, there are certain associations you want to avoid calling to mind. I wonder how many of those judges weren’t thinking “Reichstag fire”?
