Who would you vote for?

The kind, friendly pastor? Or the football player who suffered so many concussions he can’t remember how many children he has?

For Republican voters, this is easy: The guy with the “R” after his name. It’s about power, not character.

Their candidate in this race has none. He’s lied about everything from education and employment credentials he doesn’t have to paying for an abortion for a mistress he did have. A rightwing commentator, seemingly speaking for conservatives in general, defended Walker and called the woman “a skank.”

As MSNBC describes, “Few seem bothered by the contradiction of punishing women for wanting to make the same choices as Walker, who allegedly told his girlfriend that it was “not the right time” for him to be a father again.” (Read story here.)

Another problem for the White Supremacy Party: The pastor is black. Which, of course, makes him a racist (see, e.g., the rightwing spew here).

Politics isn’t a gentlemen’s sport; I get that. And politicians aren’t the highest form of intelligent, or even human, life on this planet. It is, and always has been, about power and candidates are simply a means to get the policies and largesse you want; I get that, too.

Still, wouldn’t you rather vote for someone you also can like?
