What happens to morons who threaten to kill FBI employees

For purposes of this posting, I’ll assume children under 12 don’t read this blog, and kids over that age already know all the dirty words in the English language.

I’m pretty sure that in Soviet days, Russian citizens frustrated with the regime didn’t call up the KGB and say, “I’m coming to kill all you KGB agents.” Unless they were suicidal, masochistic (i.e., enjoyed being tortured), or liked being employed at hard labor in a cold climate.

But this is America, so these things don’t happen here (not yet, anyway); and besides, if you use an alias on social media when you threaten the FBI, it will take them 10 seconds longer to find you, or maybe even a whole hour.

Adam Bies, 46, of rural Mercer County, Pennsylvania, was enraged by the FBI search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago digs for stolen and carelessly stored government nuclear secrets, spy lists, etc.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (here), he posted on Gab, a social media platform used by neo-Nazis, racists, and other denizens of the alt-right swamp, that “everyone at the FBI, from agents to janitors, should be killed.” Why the janitors, too? He explained, “If you work for the FBI then you deserve to die.”

His stated goals leave no room for loose interpretation. “My only goal is to kill more of them before I drop,” he posted. He wrapped up his diatribe by saying “come and get me you piece of shit feds.”

They did.

“He is in U.S. custody and is set for an initial appearance hearing this afternoon before a federal magistrate judge,” the Post-Gazette reported, “charged in U.S. District Court with influencing, impeding or retaliating against federal law officers.” NBC News says prosecutors asked the court to deny bail.

I haven’t been able to dig up what the maximum sentence is on those charges, but I’m pretty sure it’s more than a fine, probation, and community service.
