Texas GOP delegates holding a state convention rebuked their own senator, Jon Cornyn, and 9 other GOP senators who’ve signed on for a watered-down gun bill in the wake of a slaughter of Texas school kids.
They also adopted a series of positions against LGBQT people, including interfering in their medical care, and called homosexuality “an abnormal lifestyle choice,” which is ignorant of biology. (Why would anyone choose to be gay? Do these numbskulls actually believe anyone enjoys being discriminated against by bigots like them?)
The convention also formally adopted Trump’s election lies and declared Biden’s presidency illegitimate. Read story here.
But that’s not all. An unruly mob of Proud Boys attacked GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw and assaulted members of his staff (see story here and video below). Apparently they don’t like his support for Ukraine, but what really set them off was he admitted the obvious — that Trump lost. Fox propagandist has helped incite conservatives against Crenshaw. These clowns can pass all the resolutions they like. None of them have the force of law; they only reveal the true colors of the Texas Republican Party. They’re the declarations of stupid, ignorant people you shouldn’t put in charge of running a chicken coop.
However, Republicans much like them do run the state of Texas, so my advice is to treat that place as inhospitable terrain and avoid traveling there. It’s not a safe place for civilized people.
