Where Covid-19 almost certainly came from

There may never be a definitive answer, but genome-tracking scientists have zeroed in on a specific stall at the Wuhan live-animal market (diagram below), and all but ruled out the “lab leak” theory.

Read here the complicated story of how they trailed Covid-19 to where it jumped from animals to people, and why it almost certainly didn’t come from a lab.

That won’t stop some people from believing what they want to. Why they do is simple enough: Truth isn’t always easy to swallow. Believing lies often is convenient, or more comfortable.

But denying the Holocaust doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, refusing to believe global warming is happening doesn’t make it less real, and trusting quack remedies for Covid-19 doesn’t make them work.

We live in a highly complex and often baffling world, and people who are careful with facts and employ logic to its fullest will be in a better position to survive and prosper. Latching onto false conspiracy theories brings only sorrow and grief.
