“Boris Epshteyn, an adviser for former President Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign, acknowledged Friday that he was part of the effort to prop up so-called ‘alternate electors’ to support Trump in key states,” CNN reported on Saturday, January 22, 2022 (read story here).
“‘Is that something you ever worked on or would support, for example, in Michigan?’ MSNBC’s Ari Melber asked him Friday night. ‘Yes, I was part of the process to make sure there were alternate electors,’ replied Epshteyn,” who insisted the electors were “alternate,” not “fraudulent.”
Who is this guy Epshteyn? Let’s check him out, courtesy of Wikipedia (here):
“Epshteyn was born in 1982 in Moscow, Soviet Union, the son of Anna Shulkina and Aleksandr Epshteyn. … In 1993, he immigrated … with his family to … New Jersey …. Epshteyn is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service … [and] Georgetown University Law Center ….
“He was the strategic advisor on the Donald Trump 2020 presidential campaign. He was the chief political commentator at Sinclair Broadcast Group until December 2019. He was a senior advisor to Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign … and previously worked on the John McCain 2008 presidential campaign. Following Trump’s election, he was named director of communications for the Presidential Inaugural Committee, and then assistant communications director for surrogate operations in the White House Office …. He was a member of a team that sought to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.”
So the question is, who is this Russian working for, and given his efforts to undermine our democracy, which country is he loyal to? Undoubtedly he would insist he’s an American citizen and lawyer, with degrees from an elite American university and law school, but he almost seems like a character from the old Mad magazine’s “Spy vs. Spy” comic strip, and Putin must be chuckling over what this Russian émigré is doing to America’s democracy.
