Guide to who’s not vaccinated in Seattle

“Seattle is one of the most vaccinated major metro areas in the nation,” the Seattle Times says here.

Even so, as of early December, there were about 216,000 unvaccinated people over age 18 in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties, and that probably hasn’t changed much because most said they “plan to stay that way.”

Who are they? The survey found they tend to be “younger adults, people with less formal education and those in lower-income households.”

Their reasons? Fear of side effects (60.4%), distrust of government (54.5%), don’t believe they need it (44.7%), don’t trust Covid-19 vaccines (40.5%), don’t think Covid-19 is a big threat (30.4%), don’t know if the vaccines work (28.5%).

Only 3% cited “cost” (the shots are free; at least they figured that out), and 2.4% complained of side effects from the first shot (compared to 60.4% who avoid the shots because of possible side effects). (Pop Quiz: Which is worse, sore arm, or ICU?)

Of course you want to avoid these people. They don’t need to wear a sign, you know who they are. They’re the Covid-19 patients in the local hospitals.
