Most Republicans voted today to shut down the government again

The federal government won’t shut down tonight, no thanks to Republicans.

Congress barely averted another GOP-driven government shutdown on Thursday, December 2, 2021. Legislation extending the debt ceiling deadline to February 18, 2022, was opposed by 212 House Republicans and 28 GOP senators.

In the Senate, the bill was held up until the last minute by Ted Cruz and others who oppose workplace vaccine mandates already temporarily blocked by federal courts. They apparently want to force vaccinated workers to unknowingly work alongside unvaccinated workers, who are more likely to pick up the virus and spread it. Even vaccinated people can get Covid-19 and then pass it on to their families.
