Judge quashes Capitol rioter’s “divine authority”

Judas almost got jailed today.

Prosecutors didn’t plan to ask the judge to lock him up.

But James Beeks, Judas actor, Oath Keeper, insurrectionist, and defendant, shot off his mouth at a pre-trial hearing on Monday, November 29, 2021.

He asserted his participation in the Capitol riot was protected by “divine authority,” so the government has no jurisdiction over him.

We’ll see about that.

The judge shot back, “A defendant who rejects the jurisdiction of the court, [who] rejects the rule of law, is typically not released pre-trial.”

CNN noted that Beeks “is the second Capitol riot defendant whose refusal to acknowledge the judicial system pushed judges to consider sending them to jail, despite prosecutors’ willingness to let them remain free while they await trial. Pauline Bauer, a restaurant owner from Pennsylvania, was sent to jail in September after she also rejected the court’s authority over her, refused to abide by basic release conditions and berated the judge overseeing her case.”
CNN says the judge “eventually released Beeks on GPS monitoring when he finally agreed, after speaking privately with his lawyer, to cooperate.”
I would’ve liked to listen in on that conversation.

The whole render onto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s is not popular in some circles. [Edited comment]
