GOP wife-beater quits Senate run

Sean Parnell (photo, left), an Army veteran and book author with political ambitions, has given up trying to replace retiring Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) after a court awarded custody of his children to his estranged wife, Laurie Snell, The Hill reported on Monday, November 22, 2021 (read story here).

Parnell, who has rivals and would’ve faced a primary contest, has been intensely criticized over abuse allegations. The Hill said, “the GOP primary had come to focus on Parnell’s ongoing divorce” and “earlier this month, Snell testified under oath that Parnell had physically and verbally abused her.”

The Hill added that “Parnell forcefully denied those allegations and accused Snell of lying to damage his political career,” but the judge found her to be “a more credible witness.”

Parnell, who lost a House race last year, was deemed the frontrunner after getting an endorsement from Trump (who has no problem with men who mistreat women).

He’s not to be confused with Sean Randall Parnell, the current governor of Alaska; they’re different people.
