Will Trump run in 2024?

Yes, barring a criminal conviction (click on image to activate) or a divine intervention.

He not only wants to, he’s so eager GOP advisers are struggling to hold him back, like a dog straining at a leash.

“In July, he told Fox News’s Sean Hannity that he has made a decision on his 2024 plans,” The Hill reported (here) on Monday, October 4, 2021, then added, “advisers are telling the former president to remain patient … despite his eagerness to launch the campaign.”

Why? Because they’re “nervous that an early announcement from Trump could cause Democrats to focus their 2022 midterm campaigns around [him], which could … lead to an increase in their turnout.” And, while not mentioned, he could hurt GOP congressional candidates in another way: By sucking money and campaign support away from them.

Another sign of his intentions is he’s bluntly told DeSantis to stay away (read story here).

Not everyone agrees he’ll be in the race. Omarosa Manigault, who’s spent time around him, questions whether he’ll be health enough. Even Franklin Graham, the preacher’s son, says “everything will depend on his health at that time.” And Franklin Graham, an unabashed Trump fan, has doubts. (Read story here.)

I won’t say anything about that. If God has other plans for him, that’s none of my business, and I couldn’t do anything about it anyway. No matter what happens, the voters who turned out against the GOP in 2020 will need to do so again in 2024, because DeSantis is little better than Trump; if anything, he’s more dangerous because he’s smarter.

The vice president in January 2025 won’t need to call a predecessor to get permission to perform her constitutional duty to certify the electoral vote, whatever it is. But counting the electoral votes could be far more problematic in 2024 if Republicans try to take the decision away from voters, although PolitiFact questions whether that’s really what they’re up to. But given their violent mobs and sham audits, and their long record of acting in bad faith, I sure wouldn’t trust them.

The best thing for the country, and also his party, is that Trump doesn’t run in 2024. But it’s obvious he wants to, so that may be up to God. For more on that, plus some cool merch, go here.

Related story: A GOP mega-donor says he won’t back a 2024 Trump run, even though he liked Trump’s economic policies, because Trump is “pointlessly divisive.” Story here. He could’ve added that voters decisively rejected him in 2020.

There are a few facts in your article that are wrong. Actually a criminal conviction doe snot prevent Trump from running for office or serving even if from prison.

We don’t know if it will be Kamala Harris who will be the Vice President in January 2025. Democrats did similar things to the Republicans in 2016 and various states did changes that were to Democrats advantage. The only difference in 2020 if the Republicans could have gotten the votes from three states to be not added to the total a tie would have been declared and Republicans controlling a majority of states would have selected the next President. If anything the riot prevented this from happening. Which means the riot was an unintended consequences of the political winds.

The Vice Presidents role in the counting is similar to a Chair of a Board, he has to follow protocol, but can influence things. Can delay a motion to not count a state votes, bring it to the attention of Congress or do nothing. A position Vice Presidents are used to trying to herd the cats of the Senate.

There are few examples of an ex President running for office. One though won back the office easily. Garfield was pretty popular and there were questions about the election he lost. Then there was Teddy Roosevelt who was displeased with his chosen successor. The Bull Moose movement was fun, but did not result in a return to office. Though in all these three instances something unusual happened that is usually associated with parliaments. That a defeated party leader can remain the head of the party and the party can become the majority and the leader of the party become the leader of government. It is unusual that a sitting President has to contend with the possibility of the President he beat to be the leader of the opposition. Done well at this point President Biden will be a one term President. Best not to make a martyr of Trump, such actions as Trump not being able to speak on various media is not hurting Trump, other than correct feelings of hurt that his first amendment rights are being stymied. The fact the President has not spoken out and called a spade a spade and encouraged these corporation to allow his political opponent to speak. Guess Prsidnet Biden is afraid of Donald Trump. That is a poor position for Biden and the voters smell blood in the water.

Nope, I’m not the one making factual mistakes. Sitting in prison wouldn’t keep him from running, but sure would crimp his campaigning style. Harris will be vice president when the 2024 election is certified in January 2025 unless she dies, resigns, or is removed from office. Democrats did not try to keep electoral votes from being counted in 2016, or override popular votes in legislatures, nor did they make false election fraud claims. Trump can’t be compared with other presidents; he’s a uniquely toxic demagogue. He doesn’t “call a spade a spade”; he’s a pathological liar. Private companies have a right to kick him off their platforms; the First Amendment doesn’t apply to them.
