No end in sight to GOP election subversion

To be a Republican candidate today, you must support Trump, and endorse his election lies. And be willing to overturn the voters.

For example, as Mother Jones notes here, “On November 30, 2020, Arizona’s Republican governor, attorney general, and chief justice of the state Supreme Court certified the state’s electoral votes for President Joe Biden,” but Kari Lake, now leading in polls to replace retiring Gov. Doug Ducey as the GOP’s 2022 candidate for Arizona governor, still argues that Trump “won” the state (he didn’t) and says she would not have certified the election.

Meanwhile, Arizona state Rep. Mark Finchem, an Oath Keeper who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, is running for Arizona secretary of state, the position that oversees Arizona elections; and GOP candidates for like positions in Georgia and Michigan also are Trump supporters who would subvert our elections.

In fact, according to Reuters (here), fully two thirds (10 of 15) of declared GOP candidates for top election jobs in 5 battleground states have endorsed or promoted Trump’s false election lies.

You can’t vote for Republicans, even if you disagree with Democrats on policy, if you want America to remain a democracy where the people’s will is respected. The GOP isn’t a political party anymore; it has become America’s version of the Taliban.
