Florida hospitals are “overrun”

“Hospitals across Florida are now being pushed to the limit with ICU beds filling up and providers struggling to find enough staff to care for patients as the state fights one of the worst Covid-19 outbreaks in the nation, fueled by the highly contagious delta variant,” CNBC reported on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.

“Florida’s surge in cases comes as Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to resist calls from the Biden administration and state advocacy groups to enforce mask mandates and other pandemic-related measures to help contain the massive outbreak.”

On our system, accountability for elected officials’ poor judgment occurs at the ballot box. DeSantis has to stand for re-election in 2022, and he hopes to run for president in 2024. It’s up to Florida’s voters whether to accept his leadership for their state. It may be up to all of us whether he leads our nation.

If it were up to me, I’d say “no.” Actually, “hell no!”

I’m glad I don’t live in Florida.
