“Three Percenter” truck at Capitol riot traced to GOP rep’s husband

“A pickup truck parked at the United States Capitol and bearing a Three Percenter militia sticker on the day of the Jan. 6 riot belongs to the husband of freshman U.S. Rep. Mary Miller of Illinois, who approvingly quoted Adolf Hitler a day earlier,” the Daily Beast said on Friday, February 26, 2021.

The truck was parked in a restricted area just a stone’s throw away from where rioters were forcing entry into the Capitol (visible in background of photo at left). Read story here.

Miller (bio here), who was elected to Congress in 2020, faces possible censure for quoting Adolf Hitler at a pro-Trump rally the day before the Trump-inspired violent attempt to overthrow the U.S. government and kill its leaders. Her husband (bio here), is a member of the Illinois legislature. The Millers are farmers in rural southern Illinois.

The “Three Percenters” are a violent rightwing militia group known to have participated in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.  The term comes from a false belief that only three percent of American colonists fought British rule in the American revolution. According to Wikipedia, “The group’s members have a record of involvement in criminal activity” (details here).
