Germans try 2 ex-Nazis in juvenile courts

At least two people charged with Nazi-era crimes against Holocaust victims are being tried as juveniles in German courts, despite their advanced age, because they were minors when the crimes were committed, CNN reported on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Both worked at the Stutthof concentration camp (photo below) near Gdansk, Poland, where about 65,000 people were murdered. A former guard, 17 years old at the time, and now 93, was given a 2-year suspended sentence.

The other was a secretary and stenographer for the camp commander; she is accused of “having assisted those responsible at the camp in the systematic killing of Jewish prisoners, Polish partisans and Soviet Russian prisoners of war.”
