“A Seattle man was charged in federal court after police said he struck an officer during the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol building last Wednesday, the U.S. Attorney’s office confirmed,” KING 5 News, a Seattle TV station, reported on Monday, January 11, 2021.
Mark Leffingwell, 51, who also faces other charges related to his alleged participation in the violent insurrection that sought to overthrow the presidential election, was released to his wife’s custody after being booked in Washington, D.C. She told news media he’s a disabled Iraq veteran employed at a Seattle packaging plant.
Leffingwell is accused of punching a Capitol Police officer in the chest and head while part of a mob trying to force entry to the building where members of Congress were sheltering. The crowd had erected a gallows outside, and at least two rioters stalked the building with plastic ziptie handcuffs looking for government officials, although Leffingwell is not one of those people.

trump and many of his followers lied to them that they are patriots. Patriots don’t behave like this by destroying looting and plotting to hurt others, while destroying the country they purport to love.
Patriots love and protect their country. They do not destroy government, public property and the history that belongs to all of us.
True Americans love their country and do not destroy it or people they disagree with.
