GOP wins closest U.S. House race by 6 votes

The closest U.S. House race in the 2020 election, for a district in Iowa, apparently has been decided by 6 votes after a recount, The Des Moines Register reported on Saturday, November 28, 2020, flipping another Democratic-held seat in an election that denied Trump a second term but was disappointing for Democrats in congressional and senate races across the country.

The recount shrank the Republican candidate’s lead from 47 votes to 6 votes, but didn’t change the preliminary result. The final result after ther recount was:

  • Marianette Miller-Meeks (R): 196,847
  • Rita Hart (D): 196,841

Democrats expressed some concerns about counting of ballots, but haven’t said whether they will challenge the results in court.

^The Democrats really can’t challenges it upsets their issues in the Presidential election. Though the challenger may be unwilling to fall on the sword. One does wonder if the elections will be remembered something like the election of 1876 or as the most honest and transparent of any election and really huge.

The Democrats are waiting to see what the county and state election boards do with disputed ballots. They could then appeal their decisions to a court. Doing so wouldn’t help Trump’s legal challenges of the presidential election in any way, shape, or form.
