What to do if you see this at your polling place

Call the police.

It’s illegal for them to be there.

Document what they’re doing, the firearms they’re carrying, any insignia identifying them with a particular group, and whether they’re speaking to voters or threatening violence.

Report what you observed to the Election Protection Helpline at 866-OUR-VOTE.

“It’s illegal in all 50 states to engage in militia activity. Still, militia members will almost certainly appear at some polling places this election cycle,” CNN reported on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. “To prepare voters for potential voter intimidation, Georgetown University Law Center created fact sheets for all 50 states [here] on illegal militias and what to do if voters encounter them.”

Legal experts point out the 2nd Amendment doesn’t authorize private militias or invalidate the state laws prohibiting them. The CNN article explains why here.

You mean here in Washington state? Where we don’t really have polling places unless you go to the County Clerk’s office and vote there. Most county clerk offices are in the county courthouse and these gentlemen would be told to leave the guns outside, or have them seized. They could show up at drop boxes or at mail boxes, and I really don’t know what the local Sheriff would do, not sure what the ACLU would do, probably not much…probably tell voters to go to other lock boxes or other mail boxes.
Of course one could argue we have private militia operating the x ray machine in all of Washington states court houses. Someone tell the state it cannot have a militia.
