Third hottest temperature?

The 130º F recorded at Furnace Creek, Death Valley, on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020, will be the 3rd hottest reading in human history and a new August mark if verified, according to the World Metereological Organization.

The world record of 134º F also was at Furnace Creek (why’d they name it that?) on July 10, 1913. That record was official, but is disputed by experts. Second place goes to a 131º F mark in Tunisia in 1931.
