Questions about North Korean dictator’s health after heart surgery

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un reportedly had heart surgery on April 12, and some reports suggested he was “in grave danger” or at least “incapacitated,” but a U.S. official later clarified that “the concerns about Kim’s health are credible but the severity is hard to assess.” South Korea said he’s “at work” and “touring provincial areas with his close aides.” Read CNN and NBC News reports here and here.

Reliable information about North Korea is extremely difficult to come by. All reports agree Kim has health problems from obesity and heavy smoking, and multiple sources have reported he’s been suffering from a cardiovascular condition since last August.
