WASTATE .. goes partisan WTF

A very good thing about this state is that our ballots have not required a party identification, UNTIL 2020.

Somehow we have gotten rid of the caucus system to choose a Presidential nominee.

The WASTATE Supreme Court ruled that the state could not run elections that served the purposes of political parties.  BUT the state has now taken over what was a party process.  WASTATE is requiring that we commit to one of the other party!

WTF?

Under the law, how can this be any business of the state?  If the Trumpocrats or the Socialists or the Libertarians or the Democrats or the Republicans want me to sign up, that is between them and me, NOT THE STATE!

If we are going to a popular vote consistent with all other state elections we should go to the top two system and run a primary without having to choose a party!  Otherwise, each party should have to run and pay for its own elections!

The US Supreme court has already told Washington State the state cannot do a top two system in federal elections.

Perhaps the parties should do their federal thing outside of the state. Like the Greens, Communists, ect have to do when it comes to Federal, state or local elections and party business.

Appears the Republicans opted for the Primary system in 2016 and the Democrats did the same in 2020.

Seems the WA state supreme court means for the parties to run their own prmiaries…only the state is running the primary..

“The US Supreme court has already told Washington State the state cannot do a top two system in federal elections.” As far as I know, you are wrong. We use top two primaries for Congress and for the Senate. If the parties want the party only elections, I think the parties need to run their own elections.

The parties did run their own elections. They were called “caucuses.” You had to show up to vote; no mail-in ballots.
