Supreme Court to hear Trump financial records cases

“The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear President Donald Trump’s appeals in three separate cases to prevent his financial records, including tax returns, being handed over to Democratic-led House of Representatives committees and a New York prosecutor,” Huffington Post reports.

The House subpoenas are unrelated to the impeachment inquiry. The New York state prosecutor is conducting a criminal investigation of Trump’s private businesses. Lower courts have ruled against the president’s efforts to block the subpoenas.

This is an interesting case. Of course a good decision by the court is one where no one is happy. And there are those pesky first 10 amendments. I do suspect the state of New York is sol, due to the state already has sufficient documentation to proceed, and the state lacks jurisdiction.

I suspect the house will get some documents, but not all. Or the court will decide what Congress gets.

How about that $735 billion defense budget. And action on the North American trade bill.

A good court decision is one that is supported by logic and sound reasoning.
