 Middle Georgia folk seemed to know a lot about Geeche, at least they were referred to often. But few folk wanted to be called Geeche. Hard to cypher !1the origins of this peculiar relationshop. It could have been that most slaves came to the south via these ports. And that the HBCU State Colleges in GA, one was in Fort Valley, Albany and Savannah each, spread the contact. The other was seafood and rice transportation to the core. My dad loved to visit places that afforded him contact with Geeches. Every now and then folk would call my paternal grandmother a Geechee. She was ftom Albany.

The Gullah are a distinctive group of Black Americans from South Carolina and Georgia in the southeastern United States.
