Speaker bureau drops Lewandowski for “womp, womp” remark

Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s fired early campaign manager, was kicked off a speaker’s bureau engagement list Thursday for his disrespectful “womp womp” remark about an immigrant child with Down’s syndrome. It’s a costly punishment. Speaking fees can run five and six figures. (Hillary Clinton gained notoriety for being paid up to $220,000 for her speaking gigs.) Read story here.

Lewandowski has a history of antisocial behavior. During the 2016 campaign, he was charged with assault and battery — but not prosecuted — for physically grabbing a reporter. Just days later, he allegedly assaulted a protester. In 2017, he was sued for threatening neighbors with a baseball bat over an easement dispute involving construction of his 2,000-square-foot garage.

He’s also a failed candidate. In 1994, he received less than 1% of the vote as a write-in candidate against an unopposed Democrat for a Massachusetts legislative seat. In 2012, he ran for a town treasurer post, and was beaten 77%-23%.
