Breaking News: McConnell Delays Trumpcare Vote

Senate GOP Leaders Push Off Health Care Vote Until After July 4th

Facing opposition within their own ranks, Senate Republicans delayed a vote on the bill to overhaul the Affordable Care Act until after next week’s recess.

Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) postponed a vote on the Senate’s iteration of the GOP scheme to raid Medicaid to finance tax cuts for the rich. This means two things. One, he doesn’t have the votes to pass it. Two, the delay will give the public time to react to it, which means he will never have the votes to pass the bill as currently written.

Realistically, Trumpcare 2.0 is dead in the water. “Meanwhile, President Donald Trump summoned all 52 Republican senators to the White House on Tuesday afternoon to discuss how to proceed,” AOL News reported this afternoon.

It’s back to the drawing board for the Republican schemers.
