Bill Phillips – Democratic Party Activist

I believe that winning is everything. Being from Louisiana, I speak Southern.  I know how to communicate with the folks who aren’t always with us.

Bill Phillips has strong feelings about winning elections for Washington State Democrats.  After working on the defeat of David Duke while an LSU college student in 1991, Bill came here in 1993 . In  Washington State, Bill  was active in several campaigns and became Chair of the 21st LD   in 2002. Since then he has served in DP leadership.

Coming on the foot of the Trump debacle, he sees the party’s proprieties as  going east  … establishing a physical presence in Eastern Washington.

Drinking Liberally has its roots in England where pubs became  democratic spaces, places to  talk to strangers, share pub food, and  feel the bond of common ground while raising a pint.  The pub owner  … called the publican … played a special role in this,  inviting  all sort of folks to talk one drink at a time. Frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill , they used the whistle to get some service. ‘Wet your whistle’ is the phrase inspired by this practice.

The American version, the nationwide Drinking Liberally  began in New York City in May, 2003.  During the Clinton Impeachment  politicians, press and public were giving conservative cons a free pass. The Trump years, with right wing propaganda and government by slogan and alt facts make the need to wet your whistle urgent.
