Saw this today in front of an elementary school driving with my three boys after getting their hair cuts.
It’s not the racism you see that concerns me as much as the racism you don’t. It’s not the schools fault or sole responsibility. The school operates in a community and like most other communities it still has people willing to speak in racial pejoratives and sexual pejoratives. This is actually much easier to react and respond to. It is harder to get people to take action in the tougher conversations about racial equity. I am more HORRIFIED by institutional racism that has resulted in the lack of diversity in our workforce that can provide living wage jobs for communities of color to support our families.
