True Zionism

Yohanna Kinberg· Olympia · FACEBOOK

I am a Zionist. I am a lover of Israel.
Just like I have been every other day of my life.

But Israel is coming close to being an apartheid state. Entrenched in oppression, unable to see past it. And I know most Israelis, like myself, do not want to live with their boots on the throats of another nation. A nation who seeks their own sovereignty.

Continued settlements in what is supposed to be a Palestinian homeland, a place of Palestinian self determination, is an affront. And these settlements are not happening for security purposes but rather radical ideological religious zealotry. “It is ours and will always be ours” is how a child attempts to make peace. Mine. Or “your did it first”. Juvenile. Israel needs to grow up and start acting like a grown up nation. And it needs to tap into the leadership of the younger generations: highly educated, worldly, innovative. Israel does not lack for geniuses.

Israel has been creating facts on the ground to claim ownership of this territory for decades. They have been called out, for decades, just as Kerry called them out today. Just as the UN called them out, again, last week.

I love Israel today.
Just as every other moment of my life.
Both our my children are named for our love and dedication to Israel. Ozi Shalom. Erez Amichai.

My life financial dream is to be able to afford to visit Israel every year.

Our plan B has always been to move to Israel, if we can’t make the rabbi thing fly here in the USA (so far, so good!).

AND I will not shut up about Israel’s inability to be a peace maker. I hold Israel to the standard of anything I love. To a high standard.

I will continue to oppose the current government and to advocate for peace.

Being a Zionist means believing in the self determination of the Jewish people to live, in peace, health and vitality.

I am a Zionist, a lover of Israel.
