Via camp leaders – WINTER ADVISORY: DO NOT COME TO OCETI SAKOWIN CAMP.

A winter blizzard is approaching and is expected to hit again tomorrow evening. It may be possibly worse than the last one that just occurred a couple days ago. The camp is requesting that if you are on your way to camp, please turn around. If you are currently at camp, make plans to leave camp and head somewhere else that is safe. Current evacuation of the camp is taking place for those that are not vital to the situation. The camp thanks everyone for their support and endless love and prayer, but right now is a dangerous time. Hypothermia can take effect in just minutes, and temps are already in the negatives. A single lost life is not worth risking the cold. The camp is also asking for all physical donations to be halted until the situation can be further assessed. Please do not send mail donations, as the camp will be running off of skeleton crews to ensure the safety of fellow water protectors. There is not enough local shelters and emergency locations for everyone, so everyone is asked and encouraged to find a way back to their home, or to be with friends and family.

THIS IS NOT AN OPTION. DO NOT COME TO STANDING ROCK AT THIS TIME.

THIS FIGHT IS NOT OVER, BUT SAFETY IS IMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE. THE CAMP IS NOT SAYING YOU CANNOT RETURN, BUT RIGHT NOW IS VERY DANGEROUS.

For more information and updates, please follow Oceti Sakowin Camp
