The Trump effect…..A Sedate Race in Seattle Gets Husterial

I scribbled here before that of the two outstanding congressional candidates in the 7th, I’m voting Brady Walkinshaw as the better fit in a divisive political time where we could use a few bridge builders.

I’d say the reaction – see Westneat below – to a Walkinshaw ad daring to critique his opponent rather proves the point. He’s pilloried as a “dog whistle” candidate, guilty of misogyny, of race baiting, and becoming “Trump-like.” For an ad merely pointing out Jayapal attendance issues, for citing a common measure of effectiveness?

I’d say the reaction, in its thin-skinned immediacy, has absorbed more Trumpism than it would like to admit, proving sadly how far the GOP nominee has already poisoned our political air.

We’ll be served well no matter who wins this race – no need to emulate the nasty national campaign.

The quiet race to replace Jim McDermott in Congress finally heated up a degree or two. Which immediately caused gaggles of Seattle progressives to faint.
