Lots of people have been influential in bringing me to where I am in life. Nearly all are family or friends, teachers, mentors or rabbis. If there is one public figure who I would put in the category of people who really influenced what I did with my life, it would be Shimon Peres ztz”l. Learning about him, his Zionist journey, his genuine desire for peace, his willingness to be unpopular and sacrifice for what he knew to be in the public interest, these qualities made me realise that this land was a land where only dreamers survive and prosper.
History did not always treat him kindly. May those who loves him find comfort in the esteem and respect in which he was held by Am Israel. May they and we merit to bring his vision for our current to reality.
