North Korea: Finally some serious people proposing peace in North Korea

Finally some serious people proposing peace. But the focus is still not on ending the war but on ending NK’s weapons program so I wonder how serious it is. Further, only a couple of sentences are dedicated to such an important and difficult topic. Anyways, kudos to these two of America’s top foreign policymakers to include wording ending the Korean War among a set of proposals they say is the product of six months of work.

New and genuine incentives should be offered for North Korea to participate in substantive talks. These talks would include the possibility of a comprehensive deal in which North Korea, South Korea and the United States — supported by China — signed a peace agreement that would finally end the Korean War and gradually normalize relations in exchange for complete nuclear disarmament and progress on human rights.

The United States and other nations must come together as never before to contain the country’s nuclear threat.
