Former UW Prexy Young, Now Tops Pay for Presidents at a Public University.

The AP (story by COLLIN BINKLEY) is reporting that pay for presidents at state universities is continuing to climb at over  4% per year in defiance of the public outcry of the cost of higher education.  Chiefs at 5 schools topped the $1 million mark:

 

  1. Renu Khator, $1.3 million to serve as both chancellor of the University of Houston system and president of its Houston campus.
  2. Michael Gottfredson, former president of the University of Oregon;
  3. Michael Young, president of Texas A&M University’s flagship campus wil surpass  Khator this  fiscal year.
  4. William McRaven, chancellor of the University of Texas system
  5. Mark Becker, president of Georgia State University.
