Of Pramila and Brady: a Dialogue on Facebook

Over at FB, I asked a Bernieoid, Jack Smith ,why he was supporting Pramila Jayapal for Cingress in the the 7th Congressional District.   My question arose because Jayapal was a Bernie endorser, but she does not live in this District.

Stephen Schwartz Stephen Schwartz So why do you support Pramila over Brady? Does it bother you that she is a cartpetbagger?
Jack Smith Jack Smith My God Steven, 40 years in country and you are calling her a carpetbagger. Frankly, combined with your opposition to Sawant you and “the Ave” our sounding very racist. Pramila Jayapal Sawant I will not be posting there any more. Nick Licata
Stephen Schwartz  Stephen Schwartz  As far as I know you have not used on THER Ave, but what in hell does my post have to do with racism?   iDid I say anything about Pramila being an immigrant?????

She lives in District 9 and has taken a huge role in creating that as the “District of Color.”  By running OUT OF HER DISTRICT she coopted a number of people who might have chosen to run here .o. including your own beloved Sawant. Also like Sawant, Jatapal is brionging in a very large amount of out of region support.

That is carpet bagging .. the kind of  gerrymanderish dirty politics YOU seem to protest.

In the meantime, if you read TA, I am not yet supporting either her or Brady yet because so far neither of them has done much to talk about the issue peculiar to District 7. I want to hear about how they will deal with the major issue facing the port, Waterford workers, black flight, Unions and Amazon,.federal cutbacks at the UW .. you know DISTRICT 9 issues.

Her major opponent, Brady Pinero Walkinshaw is Cuban.  Hell he is darker skinned than Pramila Jayapal too.  Err does that make me racist?  Or should I call you names  because Brady is gay?  Image result for wakinshaw brady

Stephen Schwartz  Stephen Schwartz  I vote on issues.  I have offered to meet both candidate and have met Brady.  So far I have been rejected by Pramila.

Stephen SchwartzStephen SchwartzAlso for the record I give Pramila Jayapal huge credit for her work in drawing the divers folks in District 7 together and esp for bringing state  funds to Rainier Beach Baccalaureate program after the District left them high and dry.
Bottom line, both Pramila and Jayapal have a lot to offer.  My default is to vote for the person who best represents Seattle.  If she wants my vote then I would hope to hear more about the port, Amazon, the UW .. you know SEATTLE stuff.
