Two Los Angeles residents, Courtney Wilson and Taylor Guerrero, who were harassed and then arrested 
by a Honolulu cop for displaying affection in a grocery store, will receive $80,000 from the city.
On March 3, 2015, Officer Bobby Harrison, who was in uniform, took offense at Wilson and Guerrero holding hands and kissing, and physically grabbed Wilson in the checkout line, which led to a scuffle.
Wilson and Guerrero were charged with assaulting a police officer, and spent 3 days in jail, but the charges were later dropped. The women sued the city and Harrison for civil rights violations in federal court. Attorneys for the city and women hammered out the settlement, which is subject to city council approval. As usual, taxpayers will get stuck with the bill.
Since the incident, Harrison has retired, Guerrero has decided to live in Hawaii, and Wilson has returned to Los Angeles. Read the story here.
