Obama: ‘It’s not cool to not know what you’re talking about.”

Those words are from a commencement speech President Obama delivered at Rutgers University today. While not mentioning Donald Trump by name, or making specific reference to Republicans in general, the president deplored “this strain of anti-intellectualism” sweeping the country. He said, “Let me be as clear as I can be: in politics and in life, ignorance is not a virtue,” and urged the graduates to cultivate qualities of reason, logic, and understanding of science. df3d938e7a2ce40373bba822db06fea4I’m all for a two-party system, but a healthy competition of ideas isn’t what we have in America today. Republicans have descended into the gutter. They demonize their opponents, keep people from voting, appeal to racism and bigotry, and worship ignorance. Maybe it’s time to scrap the GOP and create a new party from scratch.
