FACEBOOK: A Dialog About Israel

aid to israelNaomi Rhoads True support of Israel, which is also a support of Palestinians and neighboring Arab countries, is supporting the ISRAELI PEACE MOVEMENT and not war hawk Netanyahu, (Israel’s equivalent of a Republican politician.) PEACE benefits the ordinary people….in Israel….in Palestine…..In Lebanon…. War benefits wealthy, politicians, maybe some top military leaders….. Netanyahu and his support of more settlements has brought the peace talks and peace process to a standstill….. Ultimately being PRO-EVERYONE EXCEPT WAR….IS BEING ANTI-NETANYAHU, (way better and more effective and more correct than being anti-Semitic or anti-Zionist.)

Tracey Schaefer
Tracey Schaefer your such a Liberal and so out of touch is just unbelievable! Israel was being attacked by Hamas which was elected by the Palestinians, also the Israeli Government warned in advance that they were gong to fire at the targets they were being fired fromSee More

Naomi Rhoads
Naomi Rhoads Actually it is YOU who are a brainwashed idiot. My sister, who lived in Jerusalem most of her life, was a recipient of the Jerusalem Prize, (Israel’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize), was an active member of the ISRAELI PEACE MOVEMENT despite terroristsbombing….the offices of the Israeli Peace Movement , despite having her 17 year old granddaughter blown up in a bus bombing. Both her son’s and grandsons serve/d in the IDF. She absolutely opposed Netanyahu as do many, if not most, Israelis. Did I ever say Israel should not DEFEND itself? Of course not. Being for peace is not masochistic or self destructive, but the opposite. The person/hawk movement that makes things worse for everyone except war profiteers is Netanyahu, whose authorizing new settlements de-railed the peace talks. To call you ignorant in return would really be too mild. You sound like a Republican CHICKENHAWK and Trump supporter, utterly clueless about both government and wars….and the price of wars. This conflict is now very complex and it will not be solved by military AGGRESSION (and the same can be said about our country’s interventions in Asian and the Middle East). In general, unless you are a war profiteer or bought political minion, the goal is and should be PEACE not WAR.

Anita Sulaiman
Anita Sulaiman Naomi: Awesome reply. Too many parrots out there. The less they know, the more belligerent they are. Astounding how deluded people can be. My thanks to you & your sister. May the Almighty Lord who created us all forgive, bless & guide us.

Misha Kutsin
Misha Kutsin Is the reason for peace talks standstill new settlements? Seriously? And the reason behind the latest stabbing intifada is Jews “violating” the Temple Mount status quo? Rockets fired from gaza are also Jewish fault because gazans are desperate there? PSee More

Naomi Rhoads
Naomi Rhoads You REALLY don’t get it Misha….I am NOT a pacifist….nor was Nelson Mandela….but he was for peace, just not at any price….. No one was suggesting any SELL-OUT for peace….. My sister struggled all her life….whether it was for peace WITH UNDERSTANDING…. or for the rights of women…..which orthodox Jewish fundamentalists are pretty disgusting about…… or about understanding the ecology of the area and the marine life in the Red Sea….. YOU ….would not be a very good negotiator, I think, because clearly you think that peace is an impossibility…..The difference between us is that I think that WITH CERTAIN PEOPLE IN GOVERNMENT peace is an impossibility. smile emoticon

Misha Kutsin
Misha Kutsin Naomi Rhoads, first off Chag Sameach. It’s somewhat encouraging to hear that you are not a pacifist, because if one is a pacifist and the other is Hitler then it makes way too easy for the latter. I don’t believe in peace with palestinians. They are not in this for peace or creating palestinian statehood or any land consessions from already miniscule Israel. They are for Israel eradication. The only way to have relative quiet is to have an overwhelming military and technological edge. Again I will use this analogy, in 1939 “good negotiators” from the former Soviet Union negotiated a peace treaty with nazi Germany. I hope you know the history well enough to get the point. The problem in achieving peace is not Israeli government, it’s the other side that had been formed with the only purpose of NOT having peace. Had it been not the case, the peace would’ve been achieved long ago. The sooner you and people like you realize the harsh reality the better it would be for Israel survival.

Naomi Rhoads
Naomi Rhoads Wrong again. The Palestinians should not be judged by their politicians. There HAS to be found a way to get through to the people……so that they can see through their leaders and their media/messages. This will not happen if PEACE is not the goal. What do you think is the answer? Perpetual war? Dropping a nuke and having the fallout descend on Israel as well? They have kids, families……they are human beings. Corrupt politicians and sadists in all countries. We even have our own contingent. There is a CHOICE. As I said before, your attitude = unsuccessful negotiations.

Naomi Rhoads
Naomi Rhoads Consider Mandela’s example seriously. Have you been in Israel? Have YOU ever served in the military? Have you ever lived in a country during war? I’m not supporting Hamas or any of these creepy terrorist groups. Yes they are for eliminating Israel….and in the process they are injuring their own people….badly….horribly….. With inspired, intelligent leadership and peace, not war, as a goal….and with humanitarianism not avariciousness and greed reflected in speech and action, that is how one brings about change.

Misha Kutsin
Misha Kutsin Naomi. Lots of emotions and self righteousness. I thought we were talking about issues and not discussing one another? I am (was) a reservist in the military and my family on both sides lost almost everybody during the Holocaust. So lady don’t use this tone with me, it isn’t helping your point but on the contrary shows lack of civility. Palestinians are not a nation. And they have elected their leaders. You don’t see them protesting against hamas or PA in the streets. You will not get through to them with pacifist ideas. Social group mentality is a reality and not something you can change by signing cumbya to them. In recent interviews of palestinians in the west bank they’re in the high 80% against Israel or Jews. Consider Egypt. Muslim Brotherhood won in a landslide in popular election and I thank G-d for Egyptian Army that took them down. So your point that people are “good” but politicians are “bad” is a delusion. As for South Africa after Mandela, it’s is now in terrible condition both economically and socially. I don’t see us agreeing and with that I wish you the best.

Naomi Rhoads
Naomi Rhoads Yes, but: what is YOUR solution? answer? (The ‘lack of civility’ is yours. I merely wanted a clue as to what experiences shaped your perspective and you responded as if you were being personally attacked. Asking for information is generally not seen as that.). So, again, you have dismissed ‘pacifist’ ideas…(not exactly a description that fits what I said, but let that stand.). What I want to hear is what you propose as an alternative….what do you think is the appropriate response to the Israel/Palestinian problem/conflict/fighting….

Misha Kutsin
Misha Kutsin Naomi Rhoads, to answer your question, any solution comes from realization of the root of the problem. You cannot negotiate with the side that only seeks your destruction. The conflict of Israel and palestinians is a part of much larger clash of the Western civilization and the islamist ideology of dominance. In muslim countries people are easily manipulated and when given right to vote they elect medieval religious zealots, arab spring being a perfect example. Israel must do everything to preserve itself and be moral as it is now, but cannot afford to be deceived by the leftist ideology. Take Sweeden: thanks to the leftist ideas Sweeden has become one of the most Jew hating countries. What can be a solution to the palestinian hatred towards Jews? What would define their identity besides the thirst to kill all Jews? Since their invention in 1967 they have been exploiting the western sympathy for the “oppressed” and milking mankind while waging terror and propaganda war against Israel. And if were given the opportunity to become Palestine there would be another failed arab state and more immigrants to Europe. The solution would come from fair treatment of palestinians for what they really are by Europeans and the West. By pressing palestinians to be transparent in how they spend the donated money, by forcing them to recognize Israel. The solution would come if the leftist ideology of the West stopped singling out and having Israel country on probation, if the despicable UN stopped encouraging terror. But this is only a wishful thinking.

Naomi Rhoads
Naomi Rhoads I think you have it exactly wrong about Sweden. If there is a growth of Anti-Semitic Anti-Zionist feeling, for that the one to thank is Netanyahu. It really was not that way before he came on the scene.

Misha Kutsin
Misha Kutsin Yeah right, paint it all on Netanyahu. As that Sweedish minister said, terror attacks in Brussels or in Paris are all Israeli fault. Not to mention Stockholm has recently become the rape capital of the world. Perhaps that was another evil doing of the Israeli PM. I am glad you added “I think” to the phrase “exactly wrong”, even that is an oxymoron. My previous comment was more of putting my thoughts in words. To use your phrase, I think you are exactly wrong about rise of anti-Semitism be it in Sweeden or elsewhere. Once again, I wish you well, but there’s no point in continuing. Do you agree?
