Did you know that Corned Beef and Cabbage is not traditionally found in Ireland? It is, instead, a feature of Irish immigrants to New York City. Unable to find (or afford if they could find it) traditional Irish bacon, immigrants found corned beef in Jewish delis. Jewish brisket was cheaper than beef.
We Irish thank New York Jews today with our feast!
