Maybe the tide is finally turning against killer cops. A jury has convicted a New York City cop with an itchy trigger finger who shot an innocent man in a dark stairwell in November 2014. The killing of Akai Gurley, 28, by Officer Peter Liang spurred angry demonstrations. Liang faces up to 15 years in prison. A wrongful death lawsuit against Liang, another officer, and the city housing authority, which owned the property where Gurley was killed, is pending.
