Survivors. While Hugh and Stephanie are threatening to destroy my Dad’s materials, the remaining survivors are well into their nineties and will soon die.

Bill Quick, Hugh Schwartz, Stephanie Quick  and Janet Linn began an avalanche of FB postings following my post yesterday.

That post apparently hurt because of the importance I place on the  publication of my father’s unique photographic account of Buchenwald.

Bill complained that I was unfair to compare the destruction of my Dad’s photographs to holocaust denial.  

Here is a sample of Bill’s email response:

 Janet, my brother’s lawyer cum  wife, sent harassing emials to my children threatening that they needed to hire lawyers.   

Hugh himself went on a diatribe, “You are a walking  talking lie. You know full well that I never had any intention of destroying the documents.”  He described me “he is is a vindictive ugly person who gets joy out of dragging this out as long as possible no matter who he hurts — Elena, Janet, even his own kids.” “My father unfortunately was right when he warned me about Stephen.  He is vicious.  I did not believe him at the time, but I have learned my lesson. 

Despite the acrimony, I really tried to see if there was some opening to make peace.  I think Hugh, with neurosis driven fantasies about my father, was beyond hope.

Still, I thought that, if my sister Steph understood exactly what I want to do, she would be supportive.  After all, Bill is formally correct. Steph has never said she wanted the pictures destroyed though her support of Hugh  has had  the same effect and she knows what Hugh has threatened.  I told her that that I know she loved Dad and told Bill I would be willing to talk with her to see what we might be able to do together.

What she was told, in brief, is this:  In order to proceed, we need to have the pictures finally inventoried, preserved and digitized.  

Anyhow, all I got was more hate mail, culminating with my telling them I would not accept any more email.

I am now blocking your mails. 

Hugh is represented and needs to communicate through his attorneys.

Steph seems to just echo Hugh’s hate mail and have no interest in concrete steps.

I really do not want to read more of this.
