Sawant accuses Tamara Murphy of Being a Kulak

  • Does Tamara Murphy look like a “Kulak?”    That is the term used by Sawant’s hero Trotsky.  Leon Trotsky  was, alongside Lenin and Stalin, a Bolshevik leader.  As  head of the Red Army, Trotsky  terrorized the kulaks … small farmers who committed the crime of owning their own land.

Kshama Sawant is attacking   Tamara Murphy, owner of a successful restaurant in my neighborhood,

According to Sawant, Tamara is a capitalist tool because she owns a business.  This is well within Sawant’s claim to be a Trotskyite and the tradition of demagogues of throwing mud on their opponents.  In Trotsky’s case, that mud turned to blood as the peasants who owned their own land were murdered in mass.

I doubt that Sawant is about to murder anyone, but her ethics suck. For the record Tamara Murphy is a liberal activist who pioneered paying the $15 wage to her staff BEFORE Sawant began her campaign.

Amazingly Sawant also charges her opponent, Pamela Banks, of being a Kulak.  Pam is a single mom, long time neighborhood activist and African American worker whose crime has been rescuing from bankruptcy the Urban League, a non-profit that works to create jobs and business in the African American community.

Here is Ms. Murphy’s response from FACEBOOK:

Tamara Murphy Wow. Really amazing. What’s frightening is that so many people have no clue what’s really going on and believe her bs rhetoric.
Tamara Murphy I love how they continue to put me in a group of big business or corporations, a single restaurant owner, working chef, whose employees all earn above 15. So absurd!

Actually, Stephen, you’re the only one talking about Kulaks. You’re also the one calling her a “trotskyite”. It must be fun making things up, that way you’ll never run out material.

    Err err ahhhhh
No.. She proudly proclaims herself as a member of the Socialist Alternative Oarty.. They describe themselves as “Trotskyist” proudly describe her as their most important member… Go the the site and read.
As for Kukaks, you may be illiterate but if you use the Google, you can easily read about Trotsky and his role in the Bokshevik terror…. Esp that directed at the petti bougeoisie and the kiosks

As I say in the pist, I doubt that Sawant is a real Trotskyite but she must have some reason for calling herself by that name, dressing her followers in red shirts, and demean in good folks like Pan and Tanara.

The Socialist Alternative Party describes itself as “Trotskyist,” which is clearly a choice to differentiate from the older term “Trotskyite,” but the distinctions are probably comprehensible only to those who parse the long history of fine differences between parties on the old left. True about Trotsky and the Kulaks. Trotsky, of course, was murdered at Stalin’s command in Mexico City. World Order danced on his grave, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlK5abIJRyM

Ah, but in fact I don’t believe you’re that dim which means you are simply being dishonest. Trotskyite is not a self-description it is the derogative term, preferred incidentally by Stalin and friends. You really shouldn’t be calling anyone illiterate when going on about “kukaks” and that exciting revealation of bolshevik terror against…kiosks. Yeah…While “the google” certainly is a useful search engine I happen to be a student of history. The land owning peasants stood in opposition to those that did not own land, basically a feudal system, where poor peasants toiled the land but the land owning peasants reaped the profits. Civil Wars are never pretty, but you can’t understand what happened before unless you understand the conditions that led up to that point. This is a longer discussion, but possibly out of depth for someone who thinks “the google” is just some source in itself.

Hey, folks. Excuse my butt-insky! I’ve been reading around this thread and I have a question and a comment or two.
Talking about Kshama Sewant. You can call me illiterate for disagreeing. I don’t mind, because I’ll probably be on your wrong side. So… with a squad of red shirts used to disrupt meetings she sounds anti-social, agenda driven and the agenda is not well recieved.
In the old south(USA)one person (usually white) owned the land and poor blacks (called share croppers) tilled the land. You know the scenario. The idea (unspoken) was to keep the blacks poor and illiterate. Now, while your Sewant may not be illiterate, it is obvious that she is anti-intellectua and her squad harks me back to the social democrats that brought Hitler to power.(shades of you know what). I’m sure that you realize all this with your superior historical knowledge.
Why is Sewant calling names of people that exercise their their freedom of personal advancement. These are the very people that made a country Called ‘America’ rich and powerful. They are called middle class.
And so now you think to defend a person who can do no better than call names and use thugs to police their anti social agenda. Does that sound as this leader of the new world has this intelligence that you admire?
I think not the man made an observation and spoke on that observation. Yet you call him a dreamer , an artist of make believe. I must say he backed his observation intellectually while your best is deroguetory. What do you call yous squad? Brown Shirts?
